How accurate is the OCR?

Very accurate for printed text with good contrast. Handwritten text and low-resolution images may have lower accuracy.

Why does the first use take longer?

Tesseract.js downloads language-specific recognition models (~2-5MB each) on first use. They're cached for subsequent uses.

Can it read handwritten text?

It can attempt handwritten text, but accuracy varies significantly. It works best with clear, printed text.
